English Language Requirements for Welfare Workers in Australia

Changes to the English language requirements for Welfare Workers have been announced by the Australian Institute of Welfare and Community Workers Inc. (AIWCW).
 
As from 1 February 2010, applicants seeking recognition as a Welfare Worker under the General Skilled Migration Program will require an overall IELTS score of 7.0, with no component having a score less than 7.0.
 
Either the general or academic IELTS test will be recognised until 1 February 2010. Thereafter only results from the academic IELTS test will be recognised.
 
There has been no change to the ‘points for skill’ under the GSM Program.
