Australia Activities
Australia is a vast country with varying temperatures and an abundance of things to do. Australia is filled with well known icons such as the Sydney Harbour Bridge, the Opera House and the Great Barrier Reef but there are also other avenues to explore.
Australia is home to the world’s oldest living culture, the Aborigines. Experience the Indigenous peoples way of life as they share with you their art, dance, music, traditional ‘dreamtime’ stories and amazing land. The Aboriginal peoples will take visitors to Outback Australia for bushwalks, teach them about bush tucker (food) and learn all about the laws of the Ancient Land.
There are six states (Western Australia, South Australia, Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria and Tasmania) and two territories (Australia’s Capital Territory – ACT – and Northern Territory) that make up Australia.
The Kimberley, a beautiful wilderness, can be found in Western Australia, fairy penguins can be seen in South Australia, the world’s oldest rainforest, The Daintree, is located in Queensland, world heritage listed, Blue Mountains, are in New South Wales, the amazing Dandenong Ranges are in Victoria and Tasmania is known as the “Apple Isle”. As for the territories; The Northern Territory is home to Australia’s red centre and the rock that was once known as Ayers Rock, Uluru and the capital of Australia (the ACT) is where the government of Australia convene in the Parliament House (which interestingly was built into the side of a hill).
Australia has many other treats to suit all tastes. The Gold Coast (located in Queensland) is Australia’s theme park capital. Tourists can visit Movie World (which occasionally doubles as a movie location), Sea World (which has amazing dolphin shows and is now home to a polar bear), Dream World (where thrill-seekers can ride on rollercoaster’s and other heart-stopping rides) and numerous water parks.
On the north coast of New South Wales is Byron Bay, a beautiful coastal town with an alternative lifestyle of surfing, nudist beaches, fishing, health retreats and even metaphysical practitioners.
The Land Down Under is full of coastal towns with all kinds of aquatic adventures on offer though – not to be out done - Outback Australia has many adventures on offer which include: horseback riding and tours, farm-stays (where guests can get down and dirty on working farms) and you can even try panning for gold.
No matter what time of year you visit Australia there is always something to be seen, done, experienced and learned.
